What is it?
Botulinum toxin injected into the masseter (jaw) or trapezius (shoulder) muscles. Used therapeutically it relieves muscle tension and can improve mobility; cosmetically it slims the jawline or the shoulder line.
How does it work?
Relaxing a large, overactive muscle reduces its workload, and over time the muscle becomes smaller. Unlike the roughly two-week result for facial lines, this slimming effect develops gradually over weeks to months.
What causes a wide jaw or bulky shoulders?
An enlarged masseter is often linked to habitual teeth grinding or jaw clenching. Prominent shoulders can come from genetics, posture, muscle imbalance, or muscles overdeveloped through sport. Spinal conditions should be checked, and strengthening the opposing muscles can help.
