Vitamin A is the most important vitamin for skin health and is the foundation of Environ’s skin care philosophy. The Environ skincare programme delivers increasing doses of Vitamin A and other powerful antioxidants through the STEP-UP SYSTEM. This unique and highly effective method allows the skin to adjust to increased levels of Vitamin A, reducing the risk of dry skin reactions which can happen at higher levels.

What is Environ?

Dr Des Fernandes is a plastic surgeon who discovered the crucial role of Vitamin A in regulating skin cell function. He found our skin cells to be chronically depleted of Vitamin A by exposure to the sun and that applying Vitamin A to our skin regularly repairs the DNA in our skin cells and reverses the signs of ageing.
Environ’s ranges combine Vitamin A with a full brigade of powerful antioxidants (Vitamin C, Vitamin E, lutein, lycopene, green tea, rooibos, honeybush) and peptides to restore skin health, protect from free radical damage, and give a revitalised youthful complexion.

How does it work?
Vitamin A is the ONLY known molecule that keeps your skin healthy. Vitamin A deficiency leads to skin abnormalities such as pigmentation irregularities, sun damage, wrinkles, enlarged pores, etc
To combat this vitamin A deficiency, we must replenish it daily for the skin to appear healthier and more resilient.

At consultation, we will discuss your main skin concerns and the treatment options available, including common side effects and possible complications. After checking your medical health history, if treatment is safe for you, we will go ahead with planned treatment.
Apply twice daily as instructed. Once opened, be sure to use your products within 10-12 weeks, as the active ingredients will degrade and become inactive. Environ products have fresh, highly active ingredients in a closed pump dispenser to prevent degradation by air, heat, and light. Your bottle of AVST moisturiser is expected to last approx 8 weeks if you are using it as you should, which is 2 pumps in morning and 2 pumps at night, EVERYDAY. To progress well this should be followed.
The step up system created starts with AVST 1 (or AVST Gel for sensitive skin), followed by AVST 2, 3, 4, and 5. You will work your way up by using 1-2 bottles of each level until you reach level 5, when you can move on to Retinol.
Once you are close to completing a level, you would get in touch with me for a follow-up by phone. If your skin has not shown any retinoid responses (dry, red, or flaky skin) then you can safely move onto the next level. If you have experienced any retinoid responses as described above, then I would ask you to complete another bottle of that same level. This will give the skin longer to acclimatise.
Daily treatment, guided by regular follow-ups are recommended for best results.
Is Environ safe?
Vitamin A in high doses is toxic in pregnancy.
AVST 1-3 are safe to use in pregnancy, higher levels should not be used. If you are using AVST 4-5, you should drop down to a safe level.
What are the possible side effects of Environ?
Retinoid reactions cause the skin to be dry, flaky, and red. If this occurs, reduce application to once daily or drop to a lower AVST level.
